    The Head of Broadcast Services will be responsible for overseeing and managing the logistics and support requirements for Host Broadcast and Rights Holding Broadcasters at IAAF World Championships Doha 2019. Experience in providing these services at one or more major sporting events is essential as is excellent organisational and communication skills. This is a senior leadership position and the successful individual will require experience in managing a significant team, some of whom may not have English as their first language.

    Responsibilities

    PLANNING STRATEGY

    • Oversee the delivery of Logistics, Venue Management, Rate Card, Broadcast Information and Support services.
    • Manage and distribute information to Rights Holding broadcasters on rate card services, accommodation, travel and visas, shipping and transport. 
    • Jointly accountable with senior leadership colleagues for driving efficient and effective deployment of approved technologies, and effective use of facilities.
    • Develop new strategies and workflows to ensure the highest level of client relationships and satisfaction.
    • Continuously stay in tune with the market through research and keep across any changes and opportunities.
    • Jointly accountable with senior colleagues for ensuring an understanding of, and compliance with ITN Group and ITN Productions’ policies, guidelines, legislative and regulatory requirements in order to minimise the organisation’s risk.
    • Advise on safety and risk issues and liaise with ITN Group safety team to establish and communicate safety action plans.
    • Ensure best practice protocols are implemented and adhered to across the division.
    • Accountable for resolving operational and financial issues commensurate with the role.
    • Jointly accountable with senior colleagues for delivering demonstrable value for money through effective management of people and resources.
    • Responsible for the strategic allocation of funding for the Broadcast services vertical and, where necessary, approve, set, and monitor budgets.
    • Working with Head of Production to ensure appropriate financial support is provided across the project.

    LIVE EVENT

    • Manage the Broadcast services at IAAF World Championships Doha 2019
    • Coordinate with local organising committees, rights holders, sponsors and technical teams.
    • Regular travel to Qatar as required.
    • Attend the main major event as well as being available for pre and post event preparation / debrief
    • Carry out location recces as required.
    • Working with a Technical Manager, ensuring all technology solutions are in place and that we are at the cutting edge of innovative technologies.

    BROADCAST DIVISION PERFORMANCE

    • Hands on leadership of team.
    • Ensure adequate training, development and performance management arrangements are in place for the team in line with ITN Group and ITN Productions’ guidelines and policies
    • Jointly accountable with senior editorial and leadership colleagues for establishing and overseeing plans for business continuity and disaster recovery in the production and post production areas.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in delivering Broadcast services at one or more major sporting events.
    • Experience in team building and management.
    • Experience creating and managing a bookings system.
    • Experience managing a complicated schedule system for build and deliveries.
    • Good technical understanding for implementation of rights holder orders.
    • Experience of critical financial reporting.
    • Experience of hiring staff in-country.
    • Experience of customs and import policies.
    • Health and Safety awareness on location.
    • Experience dealing with key stakeholders including federations and broadcasters.
    • Must be willing and able to travel.
    • Other languages advantageous.
