    To shoot and edit stories to the highest standard, from actuality to transmission, and give editorial and technical assistance as required.

     

    Responsibilities

    • To operate cameras and associated equipment, including sound and lighting equipment, to a consistently high standard
    • Undertake live transmissions by a variety of means
    • Work closely with correspondents, producers and others to shoot, edit and transmit stories to deadline
    • Maintain equipment and ensure it is held in correct working order at all times
    • Take responsibility for health and safety in the field
    • Be prepared to travel around the world at short notice on behalf of ITN
    • Contribute fully to our online output 
    • Maintain good knowledge of new technology relevant to the role
    • Be fully involved in editorial and logistical decision-making as part of a newsgathering team 
    • Behave at all times in accordance with the values of ITV News

    Qualifications

    • Practical experience as a multi-skilled camera operator
    • Show evidence of creative camera work, technical proficiency and editorial input
    • Awareness of Health and Safety and the demands of working in a hostile environment
    • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to work co-operatively in a small team both in the office and on the road
    • Understanding of ITN’s key corporate relationships
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines, to manage own workload and prioritise
    • Robust response to pressure
    • Constructive, creative and enabling approach to problem solving
    • A valid driving licence
    • Knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
    • Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of decision-making
    • Good knowledge of legal and technical use of secret cameras
