To shoot and edit picture to the very highest standard. To work as part of an award-winning team to win stories across the north of England and around the world.    

• To operate cameras & associated equipment to the highest creative and technical standards
• To use lighting and sound equipment effectively, reliably and creatively
• To undertake the direction of live broadcasts by a variety of means
• To edit quickly and creatively and transmit reports in a timely fashion in all circumstances
• Maintenance of equipment to ensure it is in correct working order at all times
• Support the journalist by researching and fixing stories and carrying out interviews as required
• Responsible for health and safety in the field
• Liaise with the news desk regarding deployments and operational requirements
• Work under own initiative to capture the best footage
• Be prepared to travel around the world on behalf of ITN

• Practical experience as a camera operator in a news environment  
• Proven ability to edit high-quality news packages to tight deadlines
• Effective interpersonal skills, particularly a high level of tact and diplomacy
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, to manage own workload and prioritise
• Robust response to pressure
• Constructive, creative and enabling approach to problem solving
• A valid driving licence
• Basic computer and IT skills
• Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
• Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
• Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
